Abjar Daoud, spokesman for the "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF), rejected the possibility that the militia, composed mostly of Kurdish fighters, would hand over its weapons to the regime of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa. "It is impossible at the moment to hand over our weapons," he said, attributing this to the ongoing tension in the country, the threat of ISIS and the escalation of violence amid clashes between Druze, Bedouins and regime personnel in southern Syria. "The Syrian Democratic Forces can join the Syrian army through a constitutional agreement that recognizes the special character of the Kurds," he added.
