Central Bureau of Statistics report: Israel invests 7% of GDP in healthcare - low compared to OECD countries

The rate of current national health expenditure per capita as a percentage of GDP in Israel is at the bottom of developed countries (OECD). This emerges from data from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The national expenditure on health in Israel in 2024 amounted to 146 billion shekels, an increase of 1.7% in fixed prices compared to 2023. However, public funding as a percentage of GDP was 4.7%, down from 4.8% in 2023. In international comparison, in 2024 the rate of current national health expenditure per capita as a percentage of GDP in Israel was about 7% - lower than the rate in some OECD countries, especially the United States (17.2%) and Germany (12.3%). Israel is not far from countries like Turkey and Mexico, where the rate of national health expenditure per capita was the lowest in 2024, at 4.7% and 5.9% respectively.
