11 people are missing in the Sassandra River in Ivory Coast after a hippopotamus overturned a canoe sailing near the town of Buyo in the southeast of the country. This was announced by the country's Minister of Solidarity, Myra Belmonde Dogo. According to her, among the missing are women, girls and an infant. According to a study conducted in Ivory Coast in 2022, the hippopotamus is the animal mentioned in the most cases of conflicts with humans that resulted in death or injury.
