Judge Amit against Ben-Gvir: 'What the world sees is that Israeli prisons are Guantanamo'

|
Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit spoke out against National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir during a closed-door High Court of Justice discussion regarding Red Cross representatives' visits to Nukhba militants imprisoned in Israel. "Currently what the world sees is that Israeli prisons are Guantanamo, and you're putting the court on the front lines," he said. Justice Daphne Barak-Erez added: "Terrorists' families in Gaza don't know about their existence. They committed heinous acts, but even in the most difficult periods there wasn't such a situation." She addressed the Israel Prison Service Intelligence Division head: "Are you such a weak organization that you can't handle one representative from the US?"
