4 arrested at ultra-Orthodox protest in Ofakim released by police to end riot

|
Police released four rioters arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace during an ultra-Orthodox protest outside the Ofakim police station in order to bring it to an end. Later, some of the protesters were seen celebrating with the released detainees. The riot began when hundreds of ultra-Orthodox extremists surrounded a police station in the city following the arrest of a yeshiva student who failed to report to draft orders and was declared a deserter. During attempts to disperse the protesters, police used stun grenades. One officer was lightly injured by a thrown stone.
