National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir informed Police Commissioner Danny Levy that no appointments will be made in the police force until after the elections. The minister argued that it would be inappropriate to conduct senior appointments about a month and a half before the elections, as this could be perceived by parts of the public as manipulative. Accordingly, the minister said that all appointments will be frozen until after the elections, except for urgent cases that will be examined individually. This is despite the fact that tomorrow, 11 appointments of deputy commissioners and 130 additional appointments of assistant commissioners and chief superintendents were scheduled to be announced.
