Interpol, the international police organization, announced that 20 people were arrested in Europe and the United States on suspicion of child sexual abuse as part of a cross-border operation in 12 countries. Spanish police led the operation, which began last year after officers identified communications related to child exploitation through possession of sexually explicit images. Authorities in Spain arrested seven suspects, including a healthcare worker who paid minors to take nude photos of themselves and a teacher who distributed such images online. So far, 68 additional suspects have been identified and the investigation continues.
