Dr. Tamar Eilam Guindin, an Iran expert from the Ezri Center at the University of Haifa, spoke at the 'Women of the State' conference about the social protests that have taken place in Iran in recent years: 'The hijab is easy to see and therefore it became the symbol. Today the regime uses women without hijab in its propaganda.' Hannah Jahan Paras, a lecturer and Iran researcher who immigrated from Iran at age 12, added: 'During the revolution to replace the regime I was 9 years old, after which we too began arriving at schools with head coverings. It was a dress code, a norm. The regime is becoming Islamist, radical.' The conference is organized by Yedioth Ahronoth Group in partnership with sponsors.
