Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem attacked the Lebanese government in his speech at a memorial rally marking two years since the killing of his predecessor Hassan Nasrallah. He said that "the Lebanese authorities gave up all sources of power at once in the framework of the agreement between Lebanon and Israel and surrendered to all the enemy's demands. The authorities are assisting the Israeli-American project instead of confronting it, and they bear responsibility for the continuing explosive security situation." Qassem personally attacked Lebanese President Joseph Aoun: "Stop the direct negotiations, move to indirect negotiations. Everyone will stand by your side if you defend Lebanon's sovereignty."
