Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein has submitted a request to Likud faction chairman Ofir Katz to run for the position of committee chairman, amid Likud's intention to replace him. Following the ultra-Orthodox parties' withdrawal from the coalition and the conscription law crisis, several Likud MKs have submitted their candidacy for the position in order to be elected instead of Edelstein, who intends to continue in his role.
