The Knesset plenum approved in second and third readings a bill to extend the statute of limitations for sexual offenses against minors. Under the new law, the statute of limitations for sexual offenses committed against minors will be extended until the victim reaches age 48. In cases of sexual offenses within the family and incest, the statute of limitations will be extended until age 49, in recognition of the unique and complex difficulty involved in exposing abuse committed by a family member or close authority figure.
