The security establishment tracked Hamas military wing chief Izz al-Din Haddad for over a week, waiting for him to leave his hideout apartment in Gaza City. Once there was certainty, the order was given to launch the attack. A vehicle that left the hideout after him was also struck as an additional precaution.
