The United Arab Emirates' Foreign Ministry responded to Algeria's severing of diplomatic relations, stating that "the UAE expresses its appreciation for its relations with all countries and its continued commitment to developing and strengthening them in a manner that serves mutual interests and promotes understanding, cooperation and prosperity. We hope this decision will be temporary and will allow for the preservation of ties between the two peoples." Meanwhile, Algeria has decided to close its airspace to all aircraft registered in the UAE, except for commercial flights.
