National Cyber Directorate surveyed half a million passwords - and exposed weak security habits

According to data from the National Cyber Directorate, from a new survey conducted on approximately 440,000 passwords of Israelis leaked to the dark web, if your passwords are based on your first name, date of birth or a simple sequence of numbers - you are at increased risk of hacking and cyberattack. The survey exposed particularly weak security habits of internet users in Israel - approximately 35% of passwords are ascending number sequences such as "1234", in second place, with an identical figure of 35%, are passwords based on the location of keys on the keyboard (for example "1q2w3e"). Other common passwords include first names only (10%), a combination of names and numbers (6%) and dates or years (6%).
