Iran's UN ambassador: 'US is a war-thirsty country, we have the right to defend ourselves'

|
Iran's ambassador to the UN, Saeed Iravani, accused Israel and the US during the Security Council emergency session of "serious violation of international law and endangering regional security." According to him, "Today marks another stain in the political history of the United States, a war-thirsty country. Iran holds the legitimate right under international law to defend itself. The scope and nature of the response will be determined by Iran's armed forces. History will not forget these tragic days. It is heartbreaking that a peace-seeking country, a founding member of the UN, has been bombed and attacked with US backing." At the conclusion of the session, a resolution initiated by Russia, China and Pakistan was revealed, condemning the American attack on Iran, which the US is expected to veto.
