Trump administration proposes limiting duration of stay for foreign visa holders

|
U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has published a proposal to limit the duration of stay for foreign visa holders including students, researchers, doctors and foreign media representatives – among them Israelis as well. According to the proposal, students would be limited to a maximum four-year stay, depending on the length of their study program, while foreign journalists would receive visas for only 240 days, with the possibility of one extension. The Department of Homeland Security claimed that since 1978, F visas have been granted to students without time limitations, which has led to "forever students" who exploit the system to remain in the U.S. for years.
