Germany and Turkey have joined the series of condemnations against Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's plan to expand settlements and effectively divide the West Bank in two, preventing Palestinian territorial continuity. Germany called on Israel to stop settlement construction, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that "Ankara condemns the E1 settlement expansion plan, a decision that completely ignores international law."
