For gender discrimination: Dan bus company to compensate passenger 22,000 shekels

The Tel Aviv Traffic Court imposed a fine of 40,000 shekels on the Dan bus company and awarded compensation of 22,000 shekels to a 76-year-old female passenger for gender discrimination on public transportation. The indictment was filed by the National Prosecution Department of the Ministry of Transportation. In January 2023, the passenger boarded bus line 292 operating between Bnei Brak and Petah Tikva and was asked to move to the back of the bus. After refusing, the passenger was subjected to offensive remarks. According to the court ruling, the inspector involved in the incident was fined 6,000 shekels, ordered to pay 2,000 shekels compensation to the passenger, received a conditional suspension of his driver's license and a financial commitment of 50,000 shekels for three years. The driver, whose role in the incident was defined as minor, was convicted and fined 2,500 shekels and committed 15,000 shekels to avoid similar offenses for three years.
