New York Police are investigating a suspected hate crime after an unidentified individual in traditional Muslim attire vandalized the Israeli-owned bagel shop 'Bagels & Co' in the Queens borough of the city. Security camera footage shows the suspect throwing planters, chairs and tables at the business, owned by entrepreneur Hila Ashkenazi, for about five minutes before fleeing the scene. President of the Jewish Teachers Association in Queens, Moshe Safran, demanded that Mayor Zohran Mamdani increase police presence around Jewish institutions in the area and stated that 'this targeted attack on a Jewish business is part of a disturbing pattern of unchecked harassment against the Jewish community in Queens.'
