The U.S. State Department has fired its senior press officer for Israel and Palestinian affairs, Shahed Ghoreishi, following disagreements on key policy issues in the Trump administration - including the president's controversial plan to relocate hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, The Washington Post reported, citing American sources and documents reviewed by the newspaper. Qureishi was fired last Monday, a few days after an internal dispute at the U.S. State Department over the publication of a press statement he drafted, which stated: "We do not support the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza." Senior State Department officials vetoed the move and Qureishi was fired.
