Kol Israel's Paris correspondent Gideon Kouts has died at the age of 78. Kouts served in the role for four decades and covered, among other things, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the wars in Yugoslavia and Chechnya, the Middle East peace process, the Arab Spring, terrorist attacks in Europe and the crisis in Ukraine. Alongside his journalistic work, he was also a researcher and historian of the history of Hebrew and Jewish press in Europe. For five years, Kouts served as president of the Foreign Press Association in France and was the association's honorary president. He is survived by his wife, journalist and photographer Yaffa Iron-Kouts, a son and a daughter.
