The Jerusalem Municipality has opened four first-grade classes for children on the autism spectrum at the Shalva Center. This is the first year that classes for children with communication disorders will operate at the location. These four classes will form a school with appropriate tracks, content and studies integrated accordingly. About 20 students will attend. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion said at the inauguration ceremony: "This is exciting news for the children and their families. The close cooperation with the Shalva Center, which is one of the leading institutions in the country for treating people with disabilities, is an example of joint work that promotes integration, equality and a strong community. We will continue to invest in education in general and particularly in special education in the city at all levels - because everyone deserves an equal opportunity. May the academic year be quiet, safe and successful."
