Levin: Impossible to dismiss AG through accepted procedure as former justice ministers oppose

|
Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli submitted a response to the Supreme Court regarding Justice Noam Sohlberg's proposal, which suggested acting to dismiss the Attorney General "through the accepted procedure." They wrote that the government tried to act within the dismissal process as established by the Shamgar Committee in 2000, but according to the framework, the government must consult with the designated search committee, which must include a former justice minister or attorney general. According to them, all former justice ministers and attorneys general oppose the dismissal of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and the government's policy - therefore "they cannot be appointed."
