The non-governmental organization Foro Penal in Venezuela, which deals with checking lists of released prisoners, announced that at least 80 political prisoners were released today in the country. According to the organization, the release of political prisoners in Venezuela is proceeding slowly under pressure from Washington. However, the organization estimated that additional releases are expected soon. According to Foro Penal, as of early 2026, about 800 political prisoners were held in Venezuelan prisons.
