|
Government and military spokespersons in Jordan held a press conference regarding the reinstatement of mandatory military service for men in Jordan, officially announcing the move. Approximately 100,000 soldiers and officers currently serve in the Jordanian army. Yesterday, Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein announced the resumption of mandatory service for men, which was abolished in 1991. He stated that the purpose of the move is "to prepare young people to serve and defend their homeland," adding that "the experience strengthens national identity and young people's connection to their country and sharpens character and discipline."
