Solberg to Movement for Quality Government chairman: 'Petition against Zini problematic, entirely newspaper clippings'

|
Supreme Court Deputy Chief Justice Noam Solberg criticized the petition filed by the Movement for Quality Government against the appointment of Shin Bet chief David Zini. During the hearing, Solberg responded to Movement chairman Eliad Shraga's claim that 'the Shin Bet chief is brazenly lying' by saying, 'On what basis are you saying this? I'm reading your petition and it's just a collection of news articles. 20-30 newspaper clippings. To call someone a 'liar' requires more than a newspaper clipping. This isn't convincing.' Shraga replied, 'Fine, you can choose not to be convinced. A general is lying to the IDF Chief of Staff,' to which Solberg reiterated: 'The entire petition consists of newspaper articles. There's a significant problem here.'
