Human rights group claims: IDF detained about 80 volunteers in West Bank, including congressional candidate

|
The organization Rabbis for Human Rights claimed that the IDF detained about 80 volunteers from the organization and American activists who were accompanying Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest in the village of Nahalin in the Bethlehem area. Among those detained was New York congressional candidate Brad Lander, who was released with a warning. According to the organization, the volunteers arrived at the site in the early morning hours, and after about two hours of working in the fields, IDF forces arrived at the location and presented a closed military zone order valid for 24 hours. According to the organization, the representatives informed the forces that they would respect the order and evacuate the area, but the forces detained all those present for identification purposes and photographed the identity cards and passports of everyone.
