Jack Schlossberg, grandson of President John F. Kennedy and the leading candidate in the race for the seat of retiring New York Congressman Jerry Nadler, stated that he supports an arms embargo on Israel and claimed that the U.S. "has already lost the war on Iran." At a public election debate held at the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue in Manhattan, Schlossberg, who is Jewish on his father's side, said he would have voted in favor of Senator Bernie Sanders' proposal to block the transfer of bombs and military equipment to Israel worth $440 million. Schlossberg added that opposing war with Iran means opposing any funding for it, but noted that he still supports funding the Iron Dome system and defining Israel as a Jewish state.
