East Jerusalem resident arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran

|
Police and Shin Bet have arrested a resident of Isawiya in East Jerusalem, in his 30s, on suspicion of being recruited by Iranian operatives and agreeing to carry out missions across Jerusalem, including a planned attack in central Israel - a plot that was thwarted upon his arrest by Jerusalem's Central Investigation Unit and Shin Bet. According to suspicions, Iranian agents recruited him and attempted to recruit his family members. The suspect had begun carrying out some of his assigned tasks, including hanging signs and gathering intelligence about sites and streets in Jerusalem such as the Western Wall and Mahane Yehuda Market.
