Against the backdrop of the military service exemption law crisis and concerns about potential elections, ynet has learned that Likud is examining dramatic changes to its primary system - including 'pushing down' reserved spots in realistic positions for new candidates. Until now, Likud's list structure placed reserved spots - for districts, women, and the Prime Minister's picks - starting from the 19th position. This mechanism allowed candidates to be elected with significantly fewer votes. For example, the last representative on the national list was elected with approximately 18,000 votes, while the next person on the list, Galilee and Valleys district representative Nissim Vaturi, received 4,547 votes.
