The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court convicted police officer Chief Superintendent Avi Cohen of breach of trust and obstruction of justice, following a sexual relationship with a young female officer who later became his subordinate. The investigation of the officer by the Police Internal Investigations Department (PIID) was first revealed by ynet. Chief Superintendent Cohen was convicted based on his admission to the facts attributed to him in the indictment, which was filed against him in August by the PIID prosecution. The officer was convicted of maintaining a sexual relationship with a young female officer during her mandatory service while he served as commander of the David District in the Jerusalem region, and later appointing her to a position where she was subordinate to him. He was also convicted of deleting relevant messages and documentation from his mobile phone. The sentencing arguments for Chief Superintendent Cohen are scheduled for July.
