Edna Arbel, former state attorney and Supreme Court justice, dies at 82

Retired Supreme Court Justice and former State Attorney Edna Arbel has died at the age of 82. Arbel was one of the most influential figures in the Israeli legal system. In 1984, she was appointed as district attorney, and after about four years, she became a judge at the Tel Aviv District Court. She served in that position for about five years, and in 1996 was appointed state attorney. In May 2004, she was selected as a Supreme Court justice, a position from which she retired in the summer of 2014.
