IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has recently ordered the establishment of a special committee to formulate the awarding of citations to soldiers and commanders for their bravery in the defensive battles against Hamas on October 7, and to submit its conclusions within a few months. This is a special committee that will include senior officers from various divisions and commands, including reserve personnel. This is to diversify its members and examine each recommendation for a citation collected from different commanders - including from rear units whose subordinates were caught in or rushed to the battlefields that Saturday. Military officials say this is an initial discussion to examine the issue and no final decision has yet been made on the matter.
