Australia summoned the Israeli ambassador over the IDF's decision not to investigate the death of an Australian aid worker who participated in the activities of the international aid organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) and was killed in the Gaza Strip on April 1, 2024. Seven of the organization's workers were killed in strikes on WCK vehicles. The IDF investigation determined that the commanders' decisions did not cross the criminal threshold, given the sequence of suspicious signs and the totality of operational circumstances. Therefore, it was decided that there is no reasonable suspicion of a criminal offense warranting the opening of an investigation or taking further measures. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said that 'this decision falls far short of adequate' and added that Canberra is 'outraged' by it.
