The IDF Spokesperson released the findings and conclusions of an investigation into the conduct of the soldier who smashed a Jesus statue in southern Lebanon. According to the investigation, it was determined that the offending soldier and the soldier who filmed the act were dismissed from combat and sent to 30 days of military detention. "The soldier involved damaged a Christian religious symbol while another soldier filmed the image that was distributed - six additional soldiers were present at the incident and did not act to stop it or report it. The investigation determined that the soldiers' conduct completely deviated from military orders and IDF values," it stated. The investigation was presented to the commander of Division 162, Brigadier General Shagiv Dahan. The other soldiers who stood by were summoned for clarification discussions, after which further action will be decided. The investigation findings were also presented to IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and Northern Command Commander Major General Rafi Milua.
