Attorney General: 'Shin Bet Chief Must Be Loyal to the Public - Not to Those Who Appointed Him'

|
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara said at the Israel Bar Association conference in Eilat that she regrets the absence of the Military Advocate General, Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, from the conference. 'Her voice is important and no one is better suited to counter the allegations against Israel,' she said. The Attorney General also addressed the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, stating that 'a government decision on appointment or dismissal requires strict adherence to proper procedure without blemish, and without concern for the influence of external considerations.' She emphasized that 'the Shin Bet chief must be loyal to the public - not to those who appointed him.'
