The Knesset plenum approved in first reading a one-year extension of the temporary order authorizing the IDF and Shin Bet to access computer material used to operate stationary cameras. 15 MKs supported the proposal against four opponents, and it will now be transferred to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for discussion. It is also proposed to change the grounds for exercising this authority, so that the IDF "will be authorized to act to maintain its operational continuity, and the Shin Bet will be authorized to act to thwart or prevent access to visual information, based on specific factual infrastructure and within the framework of its duties."
