Lebanese Lawmaker Calls to Declare US Ambassador 'Persona Non Grata'

|
Lebanese lawmaker Ali Ammar, representing Hezbollah, called on authorities to declare U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michael Issa as "persona non grata." Issa has been criticized by Hezbollah after he spoke out against attacks on a senior Christian figure in the country, Patriarch Bechara al-Rai. Issa called on those attacking the patriarch "to seek another country to live in because Lebanon is not suitable for them." Ammar responded, saying: "We strongly condemn the interference of the U.S. ambassador in Lebanese affairs and his call to uproot Lebanese citizens from their country, similar to what the enemy is doing in the south of the country."
