UN Security Council decides to end UNIFIL mandate in southern Lebanon

|
The UN Security Council has decided to end UNIFIL's mandate in southern Lebanon. The Foreign Ministry welcomed the decision, stating that "the mandate will definitively end in December 2026, and during 2027 UNIFIL soldiers will evacuate from Lebanon. UNIFIL has failed miserably by not preventing Hezbollah from military buildup over the years in its area of operations. The decision will contribute to regional stability."
