US Ambassador to Jordan James (Jim) Holzneider requested to attend a condolence visit following the death of former Karak Mayor Abdullah Zaal al-Damour, but was refused by the family, who cited the deceased mayor's positions as explanation. It was further reported that in a statement attributed to the al-Damour tribe, it was claimed that a visit by the ambassador "contradicts the Jordanian tradition that limits diplomatic representation to official channels," and that he was also asked to leave as "an expression of solidarity with Gaza residents," which also aligns with the former mayor's positions.
