PTSD soldier shouted in Knesset: 'I tried to commit suicide, my arm is covered in cuts. I fought for this wretched country'

Israel Hayat, a combat soldier suffering from PTSD from Golani's 13th Battalion, demanded during a discussion held in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on the law exempting ultra-Orthodox from IDF service that the state assist PTSD victims. "If you don't provide support, there will be suicides here, there will be crime. For God's sake, help me!" he shouted. "I went to a cemetery and tried to commit suicide, my arms are covered in cuts. I fought for this wretched country. I am a walking corpse, I am not a living person."
