Chabad house in Kathmandu evacuated after 20 years: 'They didn't want Jewish presence'

|
After about 20 years, the Chabad house in Nepal's capital Kathmandu, through which tens of thousands of Israeli backpackers have passed over the years, was forced to evacuate immediately. This came after the property owner demanded that emissaries Chezky and Chani Lifshitz leave the premises without delay. Lifshitz said that "he demanded the removal of all Hebrew signs so that Jewish presence would not be visible, so that Iranians wouldn't suspect him of being a spy."
