Student with disability in Harish awarded 35,000 shekels due to accessibility failures

|
The Hadera Magistrate's Court ruled that the Harish Municipality must compensate a student with disability 35,000 shekels for delays in making a school in the city accessible. According to a statement from the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Ministry of Justice, which filed the lawsuit, the court approved a settlement agreement between the parties that established the compensation amount. The proceedings began in August 2023, following a complaint from the student's mother that the municipality had not implemented accessibility accommodations for shade in the courtyard of the "Rona Ramon" school in the city - despite a request being submitted to the local authority back in 2021.
