Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced that the British Consulate in East Jerusalem is ending its operations today, against the backdrop of a severe diplomatic crisis between the countries and sanctions against settlements. Sa'ar announced that 20 diplomats will leave Israel, including the Consul General, but that a 'task force' consisting of seven diplomats will remain in the same building. 'We believe in dialogue and will continue to believe in dialogue,' Sa'ar said. 'Unfortunately, in recent years there has been no real dialogue with the Labour government. At the same time, we have reached understandings that serve Israeli interests. According to the understandings we have reached, no measures will be taken against Israel.'
