Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's defense team notified the court that the next defense witness in his trial will be former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. He has been summoned to testify starting October 11, just days before the elections. The defense team's request stated: "The court is requested to issue a summons for Mandelblit to testify in the proceeding on October 11, 12, and 18, through October 22." Mandelblit, during his tenure as attorney general, was the one who approved opening the investigations against Netanyahu and who made the decision in November 2019 to file indictments against Netanyahu in Cases 1000, 2000 and 4000. He has not testified in the trial thus far.
