Days before Israelis go to polls, Lapid, Netanyahu ask voters for their support

Prime minister says his government achieved in months what had been neglected for years, says despite disagreements Israelis are a family; Netanyahu says his calling is to ensure Israel's future, warns against government reliant on supporters of terror

Yair Lapid|
Prime Minister Yair Lapid:
I sit down at this wooden desk in this small room every morning and receive the most sensitive intelligence information, the latest economic breakdown, correspondence from world leaders and reports from the cabinet ministries.
  • Follow Ynetnews on Facebook and Twitter

  • In recent months the room became the epicenter where several major decision were made, including the military operation "Breaking Dawn," which dealt the Islamic Jihad terror faction, a major blow, the anti-terror operations in the West Bank including the dismantling of the so called Lion’s Den terrorist group in Nablus and Jenin.

This room saw the end to labor disputes with teachers unions and representatives of medical interns, the historic agreement that ended the maritime border dispute with Lebanon and preventing the dangerous nuclear agreement with Iran.
If we we’re capable of all of this in the span of four months, imagine what we could achieve in four years. The information sitting back on my desk makes me the most optimistic I’ve ever been about Israel’s future.
If we go forwards, make the right decisions and work diligently and hard, Israel could become one of the ten most successful countries in the world.
All the elements are already there. We have gas being extracted from the sea, the world’s leading technologies, the most powerful military in the Middle East and an extraordinary culture in which every Israeli can find his or her place.

Despite the arguing and infighting, every Israeli is a part of an extended family full of warmth and love. Israelis don’t hate their comrades in arms , even if his opinions are different, and they don’t hate the person sitting with them at the Shabbat meal, even if they vote for a difference party.
The coming elections are a choice between the future and the past. Between those who would drag us back into the polarized fights of the past – and the government I established, which was focused on one thing: Our children. Their future. I am offering you a better united future.
Those who try to pull us back, offer us one thing: more fighting. Destructive conflicts with the judicial system and the military, with the international community but most of all, fighting among ourselves. That is no way to run a country, or a family.

We have much work to do. We must flood our streets with police and security forces, lower housing prices and the cost of living.
We must find the middle way in the relations between religion and state. We’ve already begun taking on these tasks, and it would be a tragedy if it would all suddenly end and we would, as a country regress.
Israel is a shared project. I am Israel’s 14th prime minister, and many more will come after me. Israel was established by people who made the impossible a reality, just as we managed to in the last year and a half.
We did all of this out of love for our country, and a deep sense of duty for Israel and its future. I’m asking for your vote so we can continue to work for you.

    Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu
    Why me? Because of you.

In the last year we witnessed the Lapid-Gantz and Abas government lead us into a dark abyss:
prices are out of control, personal security has been compromised, national pride is at rock bottom.
This is a direct result of a weak government that lacks experience and relies on supporters of terror.
These are the most critical elections in the country's history, and the percentage of right-wing voters who show up to cast their ballots, is lower than that of the left.
If you don’t go out and vote, tomorrow, we will once again have Lapid, with the Arab Tahal's Ahmad Tibi, and the Muslim Brotherhood, which will bring out of control prices and a rise in terror attacks. Enough! Once was enough for us.

I have devoted my whole life to the historic national mission that I inherited from my grandfather - Rabbi Nathan Milikowsky, my father - Benzion Netanyahu and my brother, the decorated Lt. Gen. Yoni Netanyahu.
This mission sent me as a soldier to the elite Matkal unit, to the UN as Israel's ambassador, to the position of foreign minister, Finance minister and prime minister of Israel. All for the purpose of ensuring our security and future.
In fulfilling my calling, I along with members of the Likud party, fought Palestinian terror and the Iran nuclear deal.
I promoted a free market economy, extracted natural gas from the sea, and laid a gas pipeline from our shores to Europe. I also led Israel to be the first to overcome the coronavirus pandemic by bringing vaccines to Israeli citizens.
Between the years 2015 and 2020, Israel was ranked the 8th in the world in GDP, surpassing the UK, France Germany and Japan and our inequality index was its lowest in 20 years.
We paved a network of roads up and down the country, laid down railway lines , built intersections and tunnels and connected the Galilee in the north and the Negev in the south to the center of the country, making previously impoverished development towns, thriving communities.
Our policy of peace from strength led to four historic peace agreements with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan.
In stead of a dangerous Palestinian state on our borders, we achieved American recognition of Jerusalem as our nation's capital and the opening of the U.S. embassy there, we received recognition of our sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and of the legality of our settlements in Judea and Samaria. We also prompted the U.S. withdrawal from the dangerous 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

After having served at the head of the government for 15 years, I still have more to accomplish in order to solidify Israel's position and that of its people.
My life's goal is to ensure Israel's future! Go out and vote and we will deliver a strong right-wing government for the next four years.
