The Shin Bet announced that the head of the Jewish Counterterrorism Division has suspended himself from his position pending the outcome of an internal inquiry. In a statement, he said: “I deeply regret the tone of the remarks made, which do not reflect my usual conduct with the many partners we work with in close cooperation.” He added: “I misspoke in a manner inconsistent with the values of the service and my own personal values. Therefore, to allow for a thorough investigation and out of a sense of responsibility to set a personal example, I am suspending myself from my role as head of the division until the inquiry is concluded.”
