Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen summoned the most senior diplomatic representative of the U.S. embassy in the country for talks, following reports of U.S. citizens conducting "influence operations" related to Greenland, which is under Danish control. According to Danish public broadcaster DR, three American citizens were involved in the operation. The summoning of the diplomat comes amid tensions between Denmark and the United States and against the backdrop of statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who previously said he was interested in his country taking control of the mineral-rich island, and did not rule out using military force to achieve this.
