Report: Egypt asks U.S. 'to ensure commitment to ending the war'

|
Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, affiliated with Hezbollah, reported citing Egyptian sources that 'Cairo has conveyed its vision to Washington, whereby the U.S. is required to guarantee, officially and publicly, its commitment to ending the war as an integral part of any potential agreement between Israel and Hamas.' According to the sources, there is a need to amend the ceasefire proposal draft submitted by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to include 'strong guarantees binding Israel not to resume military activity in Gaza.'
