Gulf states are considering laying pipelines to transport gas and oil that would bypass the Strait of Hormuz, following concerns over Iranian control of it. This is according to a report in the Financial Times. According to official sources and energy industry experts, new pipelines are the only way to reduce the Gulf states' vulnerability to disruptions in the strait, despite the fact that these are expensive projects, politically complex and construction that will take years.
